Possible Causes
Closed or kinked water supply hose, Blocked inlet hose filter at aqua-stop, Defective water inlet (aqua-stop) valve, Faulty flow meter or pressure switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the dishwasher from mains power and close the water supply tap before working on hoses or internal parts.
- Check household water supply: Ensure the under-sink tap feeding the SMEG dishwasher is fully open. Verify there is normal water pressure at the kitchen tap.
- Inspect inlet hose routing: Pull the dishwasher out slightly and check that the inlet hose is not kinked, crushed, or pinched behind the cabinet.
- Clean inlet hose filter: Close the water tap, unscrew the hose from the tap or aqua-stop box, and remove the small mesh filter. Rinse under running water to remove limescale or debris, then reinstall.
- Check aqua-stop box (if fitted): If your SMEG uses an aqua-stop inlet hose, inspect the plastic box at the tap end for signs of leakage or burning. If the box is swollen, cracked, or buzzing loudly, the aqua-stop valve may be defective and should be replaced as a complete hose assembly.
- Reset and test: Restore water and power, then run a short program. If E1 returns quickly, the inlet valve, flow meter, or pressure switch may be faulty and should be tested and replaced by a qualified technician.
