Possible Causes
Failed drying fan motor, Blocked air duct or condenser, Faulty fan triac on control board, Wiring fault to fan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power before accessing the top or side panels.
- Access drying system: On many SMEG models, the drying fan and condenser duct are located in the door or on the side of the tub. Remove the inner door panel or side panel as required.
- Inspect fan: Check if the fan impeller is obstructed by insulation, plastic, or debris. Spin it by hand to ensure it moves freely.
- Electrical test: Measure resistance of the fan motor. An open circuit indicates a failed motor that must be replaced.
- Clean ducts: Remove lint, grease, or scale from the air channels and condenser surfaces to restore airflow.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing or cleaning, run a hot cycle and check if E12 clears and drying improves.
