Possible Causes

Stuck or leaking water inlet valve, Blocked or kinked pressure switch hose, Faulty water level pressure switch, Faulty main control board not closing inlet valve relay

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker and turn off the water supply. Be prepared with towels for any standing water.

  • Inspect water level components: Remove the lower kick plate and side panels (if accessible) to locate the water level pressure switch and its thin rubber hose. Ensure the hose is not kinked, split, or blocked with debris. Clear any blockage and reseat the hose firmly.
  • Check the float and float switch: Inside the tub, locate the plastic float assembly (usually in a front corner). Lift it up and down; it should move freely and click the float switch. Clean any food or scale buildup that may be jamming it.
  • Test the inlet valve: With water supply off and power disconnected, remove the wires from the water inlet valve and test the coil for continuity. If the valve is mechanically stuck open (water flows even with power disconnected), replace the valve.
  • Inspect for water in base pan: Many Summit dishwashers have a leak tray with a float switch in the base. Remove the kick plate and check for water in the tray. If present, dry it thoroughly and identify the leak source (door gasket, sump, hoses) before reuse.
  • Control board check: If the inlet valve tests good and the pressure system is clear, the main control board may be keeping the valve energized too long. Inspect the board for burnt spots; replacement is required if the relay is stuck.
