Possible Causes
Leaking door gasket, Cracked sump or circulation pump housing, Loose or split drain or circulation hose, Faulty or stuck base pan float switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and turn off water. Be prepared for water spillage when tilting the unit.
- Check for water in base pan: Remove the lower kick plate. Use a flashlight to inspect the base pan. If water is present, carefully tilt the dishwasher slightly forward to drain into a shallow pan or towels.
- Inspect float switch: Locate the anti-flood float switch in the base. Ensure it moves freely and is not stuck in the up position. Clean any debris and test the switch with a multimeter for proper operation.
- Identify leak source: Run a short cycle while observing the underside (use caution around live components). Look for drips from the door gasket, sump assembly, circulation pump, or hoses. Tighten clamps and replace cracked hoses or gaskets.
- Door seal inspection: Open the door and inspect the tub door gasket and bottom door seal for tears, flattening, or mold. Replace if worn.
- Reset error: After drying the base pan and repairing leaks, restore power and run a test cycle to confirm E4 is cleared.
