Possible Causes
Failed circulation pump motor, Blocked circulation pump impeller, Seized pump bearings, Faulty wiring harness to circulation pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and turn off water before accessing internal components.
- Listen for pump operation: Start a cycle and listen (briefly) before disconnecting power. A humming sound without water movement suggests a jammed circulation pump.
- Check filters and sump: Remove and clean the filters. Inspect the sump area for debris that could block the pump inlet.
- Access circulation pump: Lay the dishwasher on its back (with towels) and remove the bottom panel. Locate the circulation pump and motor assembly attached to the sump.
- Inspect impeller: Remove the pump cover and check the impeller for broken pieces, glass, or food lodged inside. Clear obstructions and ensure the impeller spins freely.
- Electrical test: Disconnect the pump connector and test the motor windings for continuity. An open circuit or strong burnt smell indicates the pump must be replaced.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the control board to the pump for damage or loose connectors. Repair as needed.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the pump, restore power and water, and run a heavy wash cycle to confirm normal spray action and that E6 is cleared.
