Possible Causes
Foreign object in drain pump impeller, Blocked pump cover or non-return valve, Damaged impeller, Defective drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. Water in the sump may be hot; allow to cool before working.
- Access pump from inside: Remove filters and locate the drain pump cover in the sump (often a plastic cover held by clips). Remove the cover and check for debris such as glass, bones, or fruit pips.
- Check non-return valve: Inspect the rubber flap valve for deformation or blockage. Clean and ensure it moves freely.
- Manual impeller check: Gently rotate the impeller with your fingers or a non-metallic tool. It should move with slight resistance but not be jammed.
- External access: If necessary, remove the bottom panel and detach the pump from the sump to fully clear obstructions.
- Replace pump: If the impeller is broken or the motor coil is open, replace the drain pump.
