Possible Causes
Defective pressure switch, Loose or damaged wiring to pressure switch, Blocked pressure hose, Faulty main control board input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal components.
- Visual inspection: Remove the side panel to locate the pressure switch (usually a round plastic device with a small hose). Check that the connector is firmly seated and that wires are not damaged.
- Check pressure hose: Remove the small rubber hose from the switch and the sump/air trap. Rinse it under warm water and ensure it is not split or blocked. Refit securely.
- Functional test: With the switch removed and disconnected, use a multimeter to check continuity across the switch terminals while gently blowing into the pressure port. The contacts should change state with pressure. If not, replace the pressure switch.
- Control board: If a known-good switch and hose are installed and E5 persists, the main control board may not be reading the signal correctly and may require replacement.
