Possible Causes
Internal leak in flow-through heater, Overheating due to scale buildup, Faulty temperature limiter or thermostat, Damaged heater wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and water. If there is water in the base tray, be prepared for spillage.
- Inspect base tray: Remove the bottom panel and check for water in the anti-flood tray. If present, dry it completely and look for traces of leakage around the heater and pump assembly.
- Check heater body: Examine the flow-through heater for signs of corrosion, cracks, or burnt areas. Any visible damage means the heater must be replaced.
- Test thermal limiter: Some Teka heaters include a thermal fuse or limiter. Test continuity; if open, replace the heater assembly.
- Descale if minor: If there is heavy limescale but no leaks, consider descaling the dishwasher with a manufacturer-approved cleaner to prevent overheating. However, an E9 code usually indicates a part replacement is required.
