Possible Causes
Hard water with insufficient rinse aid, Too little detergent, Incorrect detergent type, Rinse aid dispenser not functioning
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No electrical work is required for this issue; focus on water quality and detergents.
Step-by-step checks:
- Rinse aid level: Fill the rinse aid dispenser and set the dosage to a higher setting.
- Detergent choice: Use a high-quality detergent formulated for hard water. Avoid mixing powder and pods.
- Water hardness: If you have very hard water, consider installing a water softener or using dishwasher additives designed for hard water.
- Cleaning cycle: Run an empty hot cycle with dishwasher cleaner to remove internal mineral buildup.
- Test glasses: Soak a cloudy glass in vinegar. If the film dissolves, it is mineral deposit; if not, it may be permanent etching from too high temperature or detergent overdose.
Warning: Overdosing detergent can also cause etching; adjust gradually.
