Possible Causes
Drain hose kinked or crushed, Siphon connection under sink blocked, Air gap (if fitted) clogged, Incorrect drain hose installation height
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before working under the sink.
- Inspect drain hose: Check behind the dishwasher and under the sink to ensure the hose is not kinked or pinched.
- Check siphon spigot: If the dishwasher is newly installed, ensure the knockout plug in the sink siphon spigot was removed. Detach the hose and verify the spigot is open.
- Clean siphon: Remove and clean the sink trap/siphon if it is clogged with grease or food.
- Verify hose height: Ensure the drain hose rises to the recommended height (usually 40–100 cm) before connecting to the siphon to prevent backflow.
- Test drain: Reconnect everything securely and run a drain program to confirm proper operation.
