Possible Causes
Drain pump blocked by debris, Drain hose kinked or clogged, Siphon connection under sink blocked, Drain pump impeller damaged or seized
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off and unplug the dishwasher. Water may be hot; wear gloves and protect the floor from spills.
- Check drain hose routing: Ensure the drain hose behind the V-ZUG dishwasher is not kinked, crushed, or looped too low. The hose should rise to the correct height before connecting to the sink siphon.
- Inspect sink drain: Run water in the sink and confirm it drains quickly. If the sink is slow, clear the sink trap/siphon; a blocked sink can cause E3.
- Clean pump area: Open the door, remove the lower basket and filter assembly. Scoop out standing water with a cup. Remove the fine filter and inspect the pump inlet for glass, bones, or other debris. Carefully remove any obstruction.
- Check drain hose for blockage: Detach the hose from the sink siphon (place a bucket underneath) and blow through it or flush with water to confirm it is clear.
- Test cycle: Reassemble filters, reconnect hose, restore power, and run a drain or short program. If E3 persists, the drain pump motor may be defective and should be replaced by a technician.
