Possible Causes

Too much foam from incorrect detergent, Water inlet valve stuck open, Pressure switch or level sensor malfunction, Leak into base tray activating float switch

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and close the water tap immediately to prevent flooding.

  • Check for excessive foam: Open the door slightly. If you see a lot of foam, you may have used hand dishwashing liquid or too much detergent. Let the foam settle, then run a rinse cycle without detergent to clear it.
  • Inspect for leaks: Remove the toe-kick panel and look into the base tray with a flashlight. If you see water, the float switch has likely triggered. Carefully sponge out all water from the base tray.
  • Run a test: With the base tray dry, restore power and run a short program while observing the base area for drips. If water reappears, there is a leak from a hose, pump, or tub seal.
  • Check detergent use: Only use V-ZUG-approved dishwasher detergents and follow dosage instructions, especially with soft water.
  • If E4 returns: The inlet valve, pressure sensor, or float switch may be faulty. This requires professional diagnosis and replacement.
