Possible Causes
Failed Viking circulation pump motor, Jammed impeller, Faulty motor capacitor, Defective main control relay for wash motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and water before accessing the base.
- Confirm fill: Start a cycle and listen for water entering the tub. After filling, if you hear only a faint hum or silence, the wash motor is suspect.
- Check for obstructions: Remove lower spray arm and filters. Inspect the sump for foreign objects that could jam the impeller.
- Access circulation pump: From the bottom, remove the Viking circulation pump and inspect the impeller. Clear debris and ensure it spins freely.
- Test motor and capacitor: Measure motor winding resistance and test the capacitor (if present). Replace the pump assembly if the motor is open, shorted, or seized.
