Dishwasher stops mid-cycle and displays E02, often with standing water left in the bottom of the tub.

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing internal components. Water may be hot; wear gloves.

• Check and clean filters: Open the door and remove the lower rack. Twist and lift out the Viking fine filter and coarse filter. Rinse under warm water and remove any food debris.
• Inspect sump area: Shine a flashlight into the sump at the bottom. Remove foreign objects (glass, bones, labels) that may block the drain port.
• Verify drain hose and air gap: Under the sink, disconnect the dishwasher drain hose from the garbage disposer or standpipe. Check for clogs. If you have an air gap on the sink, remove the cap and clean out any buildup.
• Access and inspect drain pump: Remove the toe-kick panel. Locate the Viking drain pump on the bottom of the tub. Check for kinks in the short drain hose from the sump to the pump. Remove the pump (usually a twist-lock or a few screws) and inspect the impeller for obstructions or damage.
• Test pump operation: With the pump removed and disconnected, use a multimeter to check for continuity across the motor terminals. An open circuit or seized impeller indicates the pump should be replaced.
• Reassemble and test: Reinstall the pump, reconnect hoses, restore power, and run a drain or cancel cycle to confirm proper draining.
