Possible Causes
Blocked pressure chamber or air trap, Faulty pressure switch or water level sensor, Stuck water inlet valve, Control board misreading level sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and shut off the water supply. Be prepared for water spillage when checking hoses.
- Check for actual overfill: Open the door. If water level is above the normal sump area, manually remove excess water with a cup and towels.
- Inspect float and float switch (if equipped): Locate the float in the bottom of the tub. Ensure it moves freely up and down and is not blocked by debris. Remove the toe-kick and test the float switch for continuity while lifting the float.
- Clean pressure chamber/air trap: Many Viking models use a small hose from the sump to a pressure sensor. Remove the hose and blow through it to clear grease or debris. Clean the connection points on the sump and sensor.
- Test pressure sensor or switch: Disconnect the sensor and check resistance or switch operation according to Viking specifications. Replace if readings are out of range or intermittent.
- Check inlet valve for sticking: With power off, inspect the inlet valve for signs of internal leakage (slow fill even when off). If water continues to enter the tub with power disconnected, the valve is mechanically stuck and must be replaced.
