Possible Causes
Failed Viking drying fan motor, Blocked vent or vent flap, Faulty vent wax motor or actuator, Wiring issue to drying assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. Internal edges can be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.
- Verify symptom: At the end of a cycle, open the door. If dishes are wet and there is heavy condensation on the door, the drying system may not be operating.
- Inspect vent area: Locate the vent on the inner door (usually upper left or right). Check for obstructions such as labels, plastic, or mineral buildup. Clean with warm water and a soft brush.
- Access drying fan: Remove the inner door panel to expose the Viking drying fan and vent assembly. Check the fan blades for obstructions and spin by hand to ensure free movement.
- Test fan motor: Disconnect the fan wiring and measure resistance across the motor. An open circuit indicates a failed fan. If accessible, apply 120 VAC test power (only if you are qualified) to confirm operation.
- Check vent actuator: If your model uses a wax motor or solenoid to open the vent, test it for continuity and proper movement. Replace if stuck or open.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall the inner door panel, restore power, and run a heated cycle to confirm improved drying.
