Possible Causes
Failed Viking NTC temperature sensor, Loose or corroded sensor connector, Damaged wiring harness to sensor, Control board input fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal components.
- Locate the NTC sensor: On many Viking dishwashers, the NTC is mounted in the sump or attached to the tub base near the heater. Refer to your model’s parts diagram if needed.
- Inspect connector: Disconnect the sensor plug and check for corrosion, moisture, or loose pins. Clean and dry the connector if necessary.
- Measure sensor resistance: At room temperature, use a multimeter to measure resistance across the NTC terminals. Compare to Viking specifications (commonly in the tens of kΩ range). A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a bad sensor.
- Check harness continuity: If the sensor tests good, check continuity from the sensor connector back to the control board. Repair any broken or pinched wires.
- Replace sensor if faulty: Install a new Viking NTC sensor, ensuring it is properly seated and sealed to prevent leaks.
