Possible Causes
Stuck-open Viking inlet valve, Shorted inlet valve coil, Control board relay stuck, Wiring short energizing valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and water immediately if the dishwasher is overfilling.
- Observe fill behavior: With power off, check if water continues to enter the tub. If so, the inlet valve is mechanically stuck open and must be replaced.
- Test inlet valve coil: Disconnect the valve wiring and measure resistance. A very low reading or visible burn marks indicate a shorted coil.
- Inspect wiring: Check for melted or shorted wires that could be feeding constant power to the valve.
- Check control board relay: If the valve tests good and does not leak with power off, but fills whenever power is applied, the control board relay may be stuck closed and the board will need replacement.
- Replace faulty parts: Install a new Viking inlet valve and/or main control board as indicated by testing.
