E17 appears and the dishwasher may not recognize door status correctly, sometimes starting with door open or refusing to start when closed.

• Check latch engagement: Ensure the door closes evenly and the latch engages fully. Adjust the strike if needed.
• Test door switch continuity: Access the latch assembly and test the switch with a multimeter while opening and closing the latch. Look for intermittent readings.
• Inspect door harness: Examine the wiring where it passes through the door hinge area for breaks or chafing. Repair any damaged wires.
• Replace latch assembly: If the switch is intermittent or physically worn, install a new Viking door latch assembly.
• Control board check: If all door components test good but E17 persists, the control board may be misinterpreting the signal and require replacement.
