Possible Causes
Failed Viking diverter motor, Jammed diverter disc with debris, Broken diverter position sensor, Wiring issue to diverter assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and turn off water before accessing the base.
- Confirm symptom: Note if only the upper or lower rack is being cleaned, or if spray arms stop intermittently.
- Access diverter assembly: Remove the toe-kick and locate the diverter valve on the sump or circulation pump outlet.
- Inspect for debris: Remove the diverter cover and check for broken plastic, food debris, or glass preventing rotation. Clean thoroughly.
- Test diverter motor: Disconnect the motor and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If accessible, apply test voltage per Viking specs to confirm operation.
- Check position sensor: Some models use a reed switch or Hall sensor to detect diverter position. Inspect and test according to service data.
- Replace diverter assembly: If the motor or sensor is faulty, install a new Viking diverter valve assembly.
