How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off power before accessing the sump area.
- Clean sensor: Remove the lower rack and filter assembly. Locate the OWI sensor lens inside the sump (small clear window). Gently clean it with a soft cloth and warm soapy water to remove film or debris.
- Inspect wiring: From underneath, locate the OWI sensor body and ensure the harness connector is fully seated and wires are intact.
- Reset control: Turn off power for 5 minutes, then restore and run a diagnostic or normal cycle.
- Replace OWI sensor: If the error returns, replace the OWI/turbidity sensor assembly with the correct Whirlpool part.
