Possible Causes
Failed tank heating element, Faulty temperature sensor (NTC) in wash tank, Defective heating relay on control board, Limescale build-up on heating element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the dishwasher from the mains and allow the tank to cool before opening any panels.
- Check operating mode: Confirm the machine is not in a cold-rinse or energy-saving mode that limits heating.
- Descale the tank: Drain the machine, remove coarse filters, and visually inspect the tank heater area for heavy limescale. Run a manufacturer-approved descaling program if available, or follow Winterhalter's descaling instructions.
- Verify temperature rise: Refill and start a program. After 5–10 minutes, carefully feel the door or tank exterior; it should become warm. If still cold and E2 returns, the heater circuit is likely faulty.
- Electrical checks (technician recommended): With power off and panels removed, measure resistance of the tank heating element and NTC sensor against service manual values. Replace the defective component if readings are out of range.
