Possible Causes
Shorted circulation pump motor, Shorted drain pump, Failed triac on main PCB, Wiring short between pump and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher or switch off the circuit breaker. Do not continue to run the appliance as it may damage the control board further.
- Visual inspection: Remove the lower kick panel and side panel to access the circulation and drain pumps. Check wiring harnesses for signs of burning, melted insulation or loose connectors.
- Check pumps for blockage: Remove any debris from the drain pump impeller and circulation pump area. A jammed pump can overload the triac.
- Electrical test: If you are competent with a multimeter, disconnect the pumps and measure their resistance. A very low resistance or short to earth indicates a faulty pump that must be replaced.
- Control board: If pumps test OK, the main control board triac may be damaged. Inspect the PCB for burn marks. Replacement of the PCB is usually required and is best done by a qualified technician.
