Possible Causes
Clogged drain hose, Blocked air gap or sink connection, Obstructed or jammed drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker and turn off water. Expect standing water in the tub.
- Check sink and air gap: If your installation uses an air gap, remove the cap and clean out any debris. Ensure the sink drain or garbage disposal is not clogged.
- Inspect drain hose: Remove the lower kick plate, locate the drain hose, and check for kinks or sharp bends. Detach the hose from the sink/disposal and flush it with water to clear blockages.
- Clean pump area: Remove the lower filter and access cover inside the tub. Look for glass, food, or labels around the drain pump inlet and impeller. Carefully remove obstructions.
- Test drain pump: With power still off, access the drain pump from the bottom. Check for burnt smell or seized impeller. If the pump hums but does not move water, or shows signs of overheating, replace the pump.
- Reassemble and test: Reconnect hose, reinstall panels, restore power, and run a drain or rinse cycle to confirm the error is cleared.
