Possible Causes
Water leak from condenser circuit, Blocked condensate hoses causing overflow, Faulty or stuck float switch in base tray, Cracked condensate tank or hose
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and turn off water supply (if connected). Risk of electric shock if water reaches electrical components.
- 1. Inspect base tray: Carefully pull the dryer forward and tilt it slightly backward. Look underneath for water in the base tray. Mop up all water with towels or a sponge.
- 2. Check float switch: Locate the float switch in the base tray (usually a small polystyrene float and microswitch). Ensure the float moves freely and is not stuck by dirt or limescale. Clean gently with a cloth.
- 3. Identify leak source: Inspect the condensate tank, hoses, and pump connections for cracks, loose clamps, or perished seals. Tighten hose clamps and replace any visibly damaged hoses.
- 4. Check condenser area: Remove the condenser (if user-removable) and inspect the housing for cracks or mis-seated seals that could allow water to escape into the base.
- 5. Test for recurrence: After drying the base and correcting obvious leaks, run a short cycle while monitoring for drips underneath.
- 6. When to call a technician: If you cannot locate the leak or if the tub, heat exchanger, or internal manifolds are cracked, professional repair or replacement is required.
