Possible Causes
Door not fully closed, Misaligned door latch, Faulty door interlock switch, Broken door catch or striker
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from mains before removing any panels or working near wiring.
- 1. Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Ensure no clothing is trapped between the door seal and frame.
- 2. Inspect latch and striker: Examine the plastic door catch on the door and the metal/plastic striker on the cabinet. If worn, cracked, or loose, they may not engage the door lock properly.
- 3. Test door switch: With power disconnected, remove the front panel or door lock cover (depending on model) to access the door interlock. Check that the actuator moves freely when the door is closed.
- 4. Electrical continuity: Using a multimeter (only if you are competent), test the door lock switch for continuity when the door is closed. Replace the door lock assembly if it does not switch correctly.
- 5. Refit and test: Reassemble, restore power, and start a cycle. Wiggle the door gently; if the dryer stops or errors, the lock or hinges may still be faulty.
- 6. When to call a technician: If the error persists after replacing the door catch/lock, the control board input circuit may be defective and requires professional diagnosis.
