How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and shut off gas (if applicable) before servicing.
- Inspect motor harness: Access the drive motor and check that all connectors are tight and free of burn marks.
- Test motor windings: Disconnect the motor and measure resistance across the run and start windings. Compare to Amana specifications. Replace the motor if readings are out of range.
- Check for obstructions: Ensure the drum and blower can rotate freely and are not overloading the motor.
- Control relay: If the motor tests good, the control board’s motor relay may be defective and the board may need replacement.
