How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and allow it to cool completely. For gas models, shut off gas supply.
- Clean venting: Thoroughly clean the lint filter, internal ducts, blower housing, and external vent system to restore airflow.
- Inspect thermostats: Access the heater housing and blower housing. Test the cycling thermostat and high-limit thermostat for proper continuity and operation.
- Check heating element (electric): Test for shorts to ground and proper resistance. Replace if defective.
- Control relay: If the heater remains on when it should be off, the control board’s heater relay may be stuck closed and the board will need replacement.
