Possible Causes

Household power outage or voltage drop, Loose power cord connection at terminal block, Tripped circuit breaker, Faulty wall outlet

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the dryer and unplug it before inspecting electrical connections.

  • Check home power: Verify other appliances and lights on the same circuit are working. Reset the dryer’s double-pole breaker fully OFF then ON.
  • Inspect the power cord: Unplug the dryer and pull it away from the wall. Remove the rear terminal block cover. Confirm the three or four power cord wires are tight and not burned or discolored.
  • Check the outlet: Use a multimeter to verify 240 VAC (for electric dryers) or 120 VAC (for gas dryers) at the outlet. Replace a loose or burned outlet.
  • Restart the dryer: Plug the dryer back in, restore power, and press Start to clear the PF code.

If PF recurs frequently without actual power loss, the main control board may be failing and should be tested or replaced by a technician.
