Possible Causes
Failed gas valve coils, Defective igniter, Open flame sensor, Blown thermal fuse
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and shut off the gas supply before servicing. Work in a well-ventilated area and avoid open flames.
- Observe ignition (if safe): With panels in place, restore power and gas, start a cycle, and watch through the burner view port. If the igniter does not glow, suspect the igniter or thermal fuse. If it glows but no flame appears, suspect gas valve coils or gas supply.
- Check thermal fuse: Unplug and remove the rear panel. Test the thermal fuse on the blower housing for continuity. Replace if open and clean the vent system.
- Test igniter: Access the burner assembly from the front or rear. Disconnect the igniter and measure resistance. Replace if open or visibly cracked.
- Replace gas valve coils: If the igniter glows but the burner does not light, replace the gas valve coil set on top of the gas valve.
- Reassemble and leak-check: Reassemble, restore gas and power, and check for proper ignition. Use a leak-detection solution on gas connections if any were disturbed.
