Possible Causes
Broken drive belt, Belt slipped off motor pulley, Worn idler pulley, Seized drum support roller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing any panels. The drum is heavy; support it properly during repair.
- Check drum rotation by hand: Open the door and try to rotate the drum. If it spins very freely with little resistance, the belt may be broken. If it is jammed, there may be a mechanical obstruction.
- Inspect the belt: Remove the top cover and rear panel to view the belt around the drum and motor pulley. If the belt is snapped or off the pulley, it must be replaced or refitted.
- Check idler pulley and rollers: Inspect the idler pulley and any drum support rollers for wear or seizure. They should spin freely without noise. Replace worn components.
- Install new belt: Fit an Amica-compatible belt around the drum and route it around the motor pulley and idler according to the service diagram (usually forming a tensioned loop).
- Reassemble and test: Refit panels, restore power, and run a short cycle to confirm the drum rotates smoothly.
