How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and allow it to cool completely before inspection.
- Clean all filters and ducts: Remove lint from the lint filter, exhaust hose, wall vent, and condenser/heat exchanger as applicable.
- Inspect heater area: Remove the rear panel and clean lint from around the heater housing and thermostats.
- Check motor ventilation: Ensure the motor area is free of lint and that the cooling fan (if fitted) is not obstructed.
- Test thermostats: Use a multimeter to check continuity of thermostats and thermal cut-outs. Replace any that are weak or open when cool.
- Reassemble and test: After cleaning and replacing faulty parts, run a test cycle. If the dryer still overheats and stops, further diagnosis of the motor and control board is recommended.
