Amica Restricted Airflow / Inefficient Drying

Dryer takes very long to dry or never reaches the selected dryness level; clothes are warm but still damp (no error code).

Possible Causes

Clogged lint filter, Blocked condenser or heat exchanger, Partially blocked exhaust duct, Dirty moisture sensor bars

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off and unplug the dryer before cleaning internal components.

  • Clean lint filter: Remove and thoroughly clean the lint filter after every cycle. Wash with warm water if coated with fabric softener residue.
  • Check exhaust duct (vented models): Disconnect the vent hose and inspect for lint buildup or crushed sections. Clean the hose and wall vent with a brush or vacuum.
  • Clean condenser/heat exchanger: On condenser and heat pump models, remove the front lower cover and slide out the condenser. Rinse under lukewarm water until clear and allow to dry fully before reinserting.
  • Clean moisture sensor bars: Wipe the metal sensor strips inside the drum with a cloth and mild detergent or vinegar to remove any film that can prevent accurate moisture detection.
  • Avoid overloading: Do not exceed the rated load capacity. Overloading reduces airflow and prolongs drying times.
  • Test with a smaller load: Run a test cycle with a half load of mixed fabrics. If drying performance improves, the issue may be related to load size or type rather than a component failure.
