Possible Causes
Defective door switch, Broken door latch hook, Loose wiring to door lock, Misaligned door strike
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Amica dryer from the mains before any work. Do not bypass safety switches for testing while the unit is energized.
- Check the door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Ensure the door is not sagging and that the latch hook fully engages the door strike. If the door feels loose or does not click, the latch or strike may be worn.
- Inspect the door switch actuator: With power disconnected, locate the door switch behind the front panel near the door latch. Gently press the switch lever by hand; it should click distinctly. If it feels loose or does not click, the switch is likely faulty.
- Test continuity of the door switch: Remove the front panel screws (usually around the door frame). Disconnect the door switch connector. Using a multimeter, check continuity across the switch terminals while pressing the actuator. It should show continuity when pressed and open when released. Replace the switch if readings are incorrect.
- Check wiring harness: Inspect the harness from the door switch to the main control module (PCB) for broken, pinched, or burned wires. Reseat the connector on the control board.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the front panel, restore power, and try starting a short program. If E01 persists after replacing the door switch and checking wiring, the main control board may be defective and should be diagnosed by a qualified technician.
