Possible Causes

Blocked condensate pump, Clogged pump filter, Faulty condensate pump motor, Blocked condensate sump in base tray

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from power. Be prepared for water spillage when opening the base or pump area.

  • Access the pump area: On many Amica condenser and heat pump dryers, the condensate pump is located in the base. Remove the lower front kick panel or rear lower panel (depending on model) to access the pump housing.
  • Clean the pump filter and sump: Locate the small filter or mesh screen in front of the pump. Remove lint, hair, and debris. Check the sump (water collection tray) for sludge or scale and clean thoroughly.
  • Check pump impeller: Gently rotate the pump impeller with a screwdriver or your finger (power off). It should turn freely. If jammed or very stiff, the pump may be failing.
  • Test the pump electrically: Disconnect the pump connector and measure resistance across the motor terminals with a multimeter. Compare to the specification in the service manual (typically tens to hundreds of ohms). An open circuit or short indicates a bad pump.
  • Inspect hoses: Check the small hoses from the sump to the pump and from the pump to the tank or drain outlet for blockages or kinks. Flush with warm water.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit all parts, restore power, and run a test cycle. If E03 persists after cleaning and the pump tests bad, replace the condensate pump assembly.
