Safety first: Unplug the dryer and allow it to cool completely before accessing internal components.

• Locate the NTC sensor: On Amica dryers, the NTC (temperature sensor) is typically mounted on the heater housing (vented models) or on the air duct/evaporator housing (condenser/heat pump models). Remove the rear panel or front lower panel as required.
• Inspect wiring and connector: Check the two-wire harness going to the NTC. Ensure the connector is firmly seated and there are no signs of burning, corrosion, or broken insulation.
• Test NTC resistance: Disconnect the NTC connector. Using a multimeter, measure resistance at room temperature. Typical values are between 5 kΩ and 20 kΩ depending on sensor type. If the reading is infinite (open) or near 0 Ω (short), the sensor is faulty.
• Check for lint buildup: Excess lint on the sensor or housing can cause incorrect readings. Gently clean the area around the NTC with a soft brush and vacuum.
• Replace if necessary: If the NTC is out of specification, remove the mounting screw or clip and install a new Amica-compatible NTC sensor. Ensure good thermal contact with the housing.
• Reassemble and test: Refit panels, restore power, and run a warm program. If E04 reappears, the main control board's sensor circuit may be defective and require professional diagnosis.
