Possible Causes

Dirty or coated moisture sensor bars, Broken moisture sensor wiring, Faulty moisture sensor module, Loose connector on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before cleaning internal sensor wiring.

  • Locate the moisture sensor bars: Inside the drum, usually near the lint filter opening, there are two metal strips (sensor bars). These detect moisture in the laundry.
  • Clean the sensor bars: Using a soft cloth and a bit of white vinegar or mild detergent, thoroughly clean the bars to remove fabric softener residue and lint. Dry them completely.
  • Check for physical damage: Ensure the bars are not bent or broken and that they are firmly mounted.
  • Inspect wiring behind the sensor: Remove the front lower panel or lint filter housing to access the sensor wiring. Check for loose connectors or broken wires leading to the main PCB.
  • Test continuity: With a multimeter, verify continuity from each sensor bar to the connector on the control board. Repair any open circuits.
  • Reassemble and test: After cleaning and securing connections, run an automatic drying program. If E12 persists, the moisture sensing circuit on the PCB or the sensor assembly itself may need replacement.
