Possible Causes
Clogged lint filter, Blocked exhaust duct (vented models), Severely clogged condenser unit, Failed cooling fan (heat pump models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the dryer to cool before cleaning or disassembly.
- Clean the lint filter: Remove the lint filter from the door opening and clean it thoroughly with your fingers or a soft brush. Wash with warm water if heavily coated and dry completely before reinserting.
- Check exhaust duct (vented dryers): Disconnect the vent hose from the back of the dryer. Inspect for lint clogs or crushed sections. Clean the hose and wall vent with a brush or vacuum. Ensure the outside vent flap opens freely.
- Clean condenser (condenser/heat pump): Remove the front lower cover and slide out the condenser/heat exchanger (if user-removable). Rinse under lukewarm water until clear and allow to dry fully.
- Inspect internal air paths: With panels removed, check internal ducts and the blower housing for lint buildup. Carefully vacuum without damaging sensors or wiring.
- Check cooling fan (heat pump): Verify that the fan near the heat pump turns freely and is not obstructed. A failed fan motor may require replacement.
- Reset and test: After cleaning and ensuring good airflow, reconnect power and run a test cycle. If E14 persists, an NTC sensor or thermal cut-out may be faulty and should be tested and replaced if necessary.
