Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing the front panel or working near the door lock.

• Check door alignment: Ensure the door closes evenly and the gap around the door is uniform. Adjust the door hinges if the door is sagging.
• Inspect door strike and latch: Examine the plastic or metal strike on the cabinet and the latch on the door. Replace if cracked or worn.
• Access the door lock: Remove the front panel screws around the door opening and gently pull the panel forward to access the door lock assembly.
• Inspect wiring: Verify that the connector to the door lock is firmly attached and that wires are not broken or burned.
• Test the lock coil: With the connector removed, measure resistance across the lock coil terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed lock.
• Replace door lock if faulty: Install a new Amica-compatible door lock assembly, secure it with screws, and reconnect the wiring.
• Reassemble and test: Refit the front panel, restore power, and start a cycle to confirm that E17 is cleared and the door locks/unlocks correctly.
