Possible Causes
Overheated motor, Jammed drum or bearings, Faulty motor capacitor (on some models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. Moving parts can cause injury.
- Check drum rotation: Open the door and spin the drum by hand. If stiff or grinding, inspect for foreign objects or worn bearings.
- Allow cooling: If the dryer has been heavily used, allow it to cool for 30–60 minutes, then try again. Overload protection may reset.
- Inspect belt and pulleys: Remove the top and rear panels to check the belt and idler pulley. Replace a seized idler or damaged belt.
- Capacitor check: On capacitor‑start motors, a failed capacitor can prevent starting. A technician can test and replace the motor capacitor if needed.
