Possible Causes
Defective drive motor, Faulty motor relay on main control board, Loose or burnt motor wiring harness, Open thermal protector on motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before accessing internal components. Moving parts and live voltage are hazardous.
- Check drum movement: With the door open and power disconnected, rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly. Heavy resistance or grinding suggests a seized motor or drum support issue.
- Inspect motor wiring:
- Remove the rear or side panel (depending on model).
- Locate the drive motor near the blower housing.
- Check the motor connector and wires for burns, looseness, or broken insulation.
- Test continuity (if you have a multimeter):
- Measure resistance across the motor windings; an open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Check the motor's thermal protector (often integrated) for continuity.
- Control board relay: If the motor tests good but F02 remains, the motor relay on the main PCB may be stuck or open. Inspect the board for burnt relay contacts or tracks.
- Temporary check: After reseating connectors, restore power and try a short timed cycle. If the code reappears immediately, plan for motor or PCB replacement.
Warning: Do not bypass safety thermostats or thermal protectors. This creates a fire risk.
