Possible Causes
Defective door switch, Misaligned door latch, Broken door catch, Loose wiring to door switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before working on the door assembly.
- Check door closure:
- Ensure the door closes firmly and the latch engages with a clear click.
- Inspect the plastic door catch for cracks or wear.
- Test door switch:
- Locate the door switch behind the front panel near the latch.
- Press the switch actuator by hand; it should move freely and click.
- If you have a multimeter, test for continuity when the switch is pressed.
- Adjust or replace:
- If the door is sagging, adjust the hinges or tighten hinge screws.
- Replace a worn door catch or faulty door switch with a Bauknecht-compatible part.
- Wiring check: Confirm the switch connector is fully seated and wires are not broken or pinched.
Warning: Never bypass the door switch; operating the dryer with the door interlock defeated is unsafe.
