Possible Causes

Tripped thermal cut-out on heater housing, Blocked lint filter or condenser, Failed high-limit thermostat, Poor airflow in exhaust duct

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect mains power and allow the dryer to cool completely before inspection.

  • Clean airflow system:
    • Remove and clean the lint filter.
    • Clean the condenser unit (if fitted) and ensure no lint mats are blocking fins.
    • Inspect the exhaust hose for kinks, crushing, or lint buildup; clean or replace as needed.
  • Access thermostats:
    • Remove the rear panel to reach the heater housing.
    • Locate the high-limit thermostat and thermal cut-out devices attached to the housing.
    • Some models have a manual reset button on the thermostat; press it gently if present.
  • Check continuity: Using a multimeter, test the thermostats and cut-outs; replace any that are open at room temperature and not resettable.
  • Root cause: If a safety device has tripped, ensure the underlying cause (blocked airflow, overloading, ambient temperature) is corrected before reusing the dryer.

Warning: Do not tape, short, or bypass any thermostat or cut-out. This can lead to fire.
