Possible Causes

Seized drum support rollers, Worn or jammed drum bearings, Foreign object stuck between drum and cabinet, Failing drive motor drawing excessive current

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before inspecting moving parts.

  • Check drum rotation: With the door open and power off, rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly with moderate resistance.
  • Listen for scraping: Scraping or grinding sounds indicate foreign objects or bearing issues.
  • Inspect drum supports:
    • Remove front or rear panel to access drum rollers and bearings.
    • Check for flat spots, seized rollers, or excessive play.
  • Remove obstructions: Look for coins, bra wires, or other objects trapped at the drum edges and remove them.
  • Motor check: If the drum turns freely but F26 persists, the motor may be failing and should be tested and replaced if necessary.

Note: Operating the dryer with a stiff drum can quickly damage the motor.
