Possible Causes
Shorted or open moisture sensor circuit, Wiring harness damage to sensor bars, Faulty sensor amplifier on control board, Contamination bridging sensor contacts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before working inside the drum or control area.
- Clean sensor bars thoroughly: Use a non-abrasive cleaner and cloth to remove any residue from the metal bars inside the drum.
- Inspect wiring:
- Access the back of the sensor bars from the front panel area.
- Check for pinched, broken, or shorted wires.
- Check for shorts: Ensure no metal objects or screws are touching both sensor contacts at once.
- Test in timed mode: If timed drying works but sensor-dry fails with F28, the moisture sensing circuit is likely at fault and may require sensor or PCB replacement.
Note: Avoid using steel wool or harsh abrasives on sensor bars; they can damage the surface.
