Possible Causes
Worn drum support rollers, Dry or seized idler pulley, Worn front drum glides, Misaligned drum causing friction
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing panels or reaching inside the drum area.
Squealing noises usually come from rotating support components.
- Access drum supports: Remove the top and front panels to expose the drum, belt, and support rollers.
- Inspect drum rollers: Rotate each roller by hand. If they feel rough, wobbly, or seized, replace them as a set.
- Check idler pulley: Spin the idler pulley. If it squeals, binds, or has play, replace the idler assembly.
- Inspect front glides/felt: Look for worn-through glide pads or torn felt seals at the front of the drum. Replace if worn to prevent metal-on-metal contact.
- Lubrication: Use only manufacturer-approved lubrication where specified (many rollers are self-lubricating and should not be oiled). Reassemble and test.
