Blomberg Restricted Airflow / Partial Heating Performance

Dryer takes too long to dry clothes; loads are still damp after a full cycle, but some heat is present.

Possible Causes

Clogged lint filter, Blocked condenser or heat exchanger, Blocked exhaust duct (vented models), Weak heating element or failing thermostat

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off and unplug the dryer before cleaning internal ducts.

Extended drying times are usually caused by poor airflow or marginal heating.

  • Clean the lint filter: Remove lint and wash the filter with warm soapy water if coated. Dry completely before reinstalling.
  • Clean condenser/heat exchanger (condenser/heat pump models): Remove the condenser unit from the lower front compartment and rinse thoroughly under running water to clear lint from the fins. Let it dry and reinstall.
  • Inspect exhaust duct (vented models): Disconnect the vent hose and check for lint buildup, crushed sections, or obstructions at the wall cap. Clean or replace as needed and keep the run as short and straight as possible.
  • Check room conditions: Ensure the dryer is in a well-ventilated area and not in a very cold or damp space, which can reduce efficiency.
  • Verify heating performance: Run the dryer empty on high heat and measure exhaust temperature if possible. If it never reaches normal temperature, the heater, thermostat, or NTC sensor may be weak and require replacement.
