Possible Causes
Failed drive motor, Seized drum or worn drum bearings, Broken or slipped drive belt, Faulty motor capacitor (on some models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing any panels.
E02 generally points to a motor or drum drive problem.
- Check drum rotation by hand: With the dryer unplugged and door open, rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly with moderate resistance. If it is very stiff, grinding, or jammed, inspect rear drum bearing, front felt seals, and any foreign objects caught between drum and cabinet.
- Inspect the drive belt: Remove the top panel and then the rear or front panel (depending on model). Verify the belt is intact, properly routed around the motor pulley and idler tensioner. Replace if frayed, cracked, or broken.
- Check the motor: Look for signs of overheating (burnt smell, discoloration). Spin the motor pulley by hand; it should turn freely. If it is stiff or noisy, the motor may be failing.
- Test the motor capacitor (if fitted): Some Blomberg dryers use a start/run capacitor mounted near the motor. Discharge it safely, then test with a capacitance meter. Replace if out of spec.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing any faulty parts, reassemble the cabinet, restore power, and run a timed cycle. If E02 returns despite free drum movement and a new motor, the main control board may require professional diagnosis.
