Possible Causes
Loose harness between user interface and main control, Faulty user interface PCB, Faulty main control PCB, Electrical noise or surge damage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the control panels.
E12 indicates the main control cannot communicate properly with another board (often the display/user interface).
- Access the control console: Remove the top panel and then the screws securing the front control fascia. Carefully pull the console forward.
- Check ribbon cables and harnesses: Ensure the flat ribbon cable or multi-pin harness between the user interface and main control is fully seated and not damaged. Reseat both ends.
- Inspect for moisture: Look for signs of condensation or detergent residue on the control boards. Dry gently and clean if necessary.
- Visual inspection of PCBs: Check both the main control and user interface boards for burnt components or corrosion. Replace any obviously damaged board.
- Reset and test: Reassemble, restore power, and try a test cycle. If E12 persists, one of the boards is likely defective. Replacing the user interface is often tried first, followed by the main control if needed.
