Possible Causes
Failed blower fan motor, Broken or loose fan wheel, Blocked air duct, Obstructed lint filter housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing panels or reaching into ducts.
E13 typically points to insufficient airflow or a fan problem.
- Check and clean lint filter: Remove and thoroughly clean the lint filter. Wash with warm soapy water if coated with residue, then dry.
- Inspect air ducts: Access the internal air ducting by removing the rear or front panel. Look for heavy lint buildup, foreign objects, or collapsed duct sections. Clean all passages.
- Examine the blower fan: Locate the blower housing near the motor. Remove the cover and inspect the fan wheel. Ensure it is firmly attached to the motor shaft and not cracked or missing blades. Replace if damaged.
- Test the fan motor: On some models, the fan is a separate motor (especially in heat pump units). Check that it spins freely and test for proper resistance. Replace the fan motor if seized or open-circuit.
- Reassemble and test: After cleaning and repairs, reassemble the dryer, restore power, and run a cycle. If E13 returns with clear ducts and a working fan, the airflow sensor or control board may be faulty and require professional diagnosis.
